Ok, my car is advertised in Autotrader (actually it is my late
father-in-law's car) as I figure if someone is looking for a car they will
find it there.

My advert clearly states no canvassers yet still I get a phone call and
email from Cardata (from 0208 524 5990).

What can I do about this? Surely it is some form of infringement of my
privacy having these twats call?

Their email addresses are
***@cardata.co.uk
***@cardata.co.uk
***@cardata.co.uk
***@cardata.co.uk
***@cardata.co.uk

and the one they sent to me
***@themotoristguide.co.uk

Thanks for listening

My car has been in autotrader for a few weeks now. I'm nearly at the
end of my patience with cardata and similar. See my post on another
group:

http://groups.google.co.uk/group/rec.autos.makers.honda/browse_thread/thread/4bc7ef6a3fddc241?hl=en

I'm covinced the same company has phoned me over 10 times and used
different compnay names each time, vehicle direct, autobuyers, car-
pish etc. They are relentless and in my case, were aggressive.

Autotrader have a telesafe function that is supposed to block out
phone numbers of known agencies when they try and phone you. Haven't
tried it myself but might be worth it. Saw it on their site.

Tell them if they contact you again you will report them to trading
standards or something.

Big capital letters on your ad "NO AGENCIES!!!!!!" just state that
when they phone and hang up! It's a complete con IMO.

Register with the Telephone Preference Service

http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

It actually works, if any of these shysters call you just inform them that
you're registered with the TPS and that your next call will be to the TPS.

The shysters tend to reply with "Oh, I didn't know that" and hang up.
